Estos son los últimos vestigios de una industria en auge de unos 500 fabricantes de bolígrafos en Osaka, que produjeron bolígrafos de celuloide torneados a mano desde la década de 1920 en adelante. El Sr. Kato comenzó a fabricar bolígrafos a la edad de 19 años, después de que su padre, que también era fabricante de bolígrafos, muriera poco antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Se dice que el Sr. Kato mantuvo una gran cantidad de celuloide enterrado en su jardín, y al final de la guerra lo desenterró y comenzó su propia empresa de bolígrafos, con el nombre homónimo de Kato Seisakusho Company.

Fountain pens handcrafted by Mr Ohnishi, a highly skilled craftsman who continues the legacy of making fountain pens in Japan. The barrel's exquisitely smooth curvature is unrivalled by machine production and features the distinctive sheen of celluloid.
Here are the last vestiges of a once booming industry of some 500 pen makers in Osaka, producing hand-turned celluloid pens from the 1920s onwards. We feel proud to present to our customers the pens of Mr Kato and his apprentice Mr Ohnishi, who have been safekeeping this craft single-handedly for the last few decades.
THE FATHER OF PENS
Discover the brand of the legendary Mr. Kato Kiyoshi, affectionately known in the trade as "the father of pens".
Mr. Kato started making pens at the age of 19, after his father, who was also a pen maker, died shortly before the Second World War.
It is said that Mr. Kato kept a large quantity of celluloid buried in his garden, and at the end of the war he dug it up and started his own pen company, eponymously named the Kato Seisakusho Company.
